" VISUAL ARTS & ARTISTS NEED TO BE SUPPORTED, RESPECTED, AND SEEN "

ME & ART

"Wherever life has taken me... Germany, Brazil, Spain, the Canary Islands, or the African continent, I have always enjoyed local arts and built friendships with artists, some of whom are now well-known.

While others spend their money on cars, watches, clothes, or wigs, my passion has always been collecting art. For me, it’s simple: I am addicted to art. A meaningful collection is not only about money, it’s about discovering honest, dedicated artists with clear visions."

All objects, sculptures, and paintings featured on this website are available for purchase. Proceeds directly support young Gambian artists and members of the ART27 Group by providing essential art materials, tools, and workshops. They also help fund future exhibitions and bring us closer to realizing our big dream:

Establishing our Independent Modern Contemporary Art Gallery in The Gambia.

“If the vision of establishing The Gambia’s first contemporary art gallery inspires you, I warmly invite you to become an essential part of this groundbreaking journey.”

ART PAINTINGS ARE NOT A DECORATION AND DO NOT HAVE TO MATCH YOUR SOFA...

1. Art is Expression, Not Accommodation

Soul Over Color Matching: Great art should touch your soul, not just match your sofa pillows. It is an investment in emotion, personality, and personal history. The Problem with "Matches": When art perfectly matches a room's color scheme, it can make the space look like a generic hotel lobby, a staged furniture retail store, or an uninspired catalogue picture. It Tells a Story: A piece of art should narrate a story, spark conversation, and provide emotional depth to a room, rather than blending seamlessly into the background.

2. The Magic of Mismatched

Contrast Creates Energy: Contrasting colors and styles create visual tension and energy, preventing a room from feeling dull or stagnant. Curated, Not Coordinated: A home looks more curated and personal when art contrasts or challenges the furniture, rather than simply echoing its color. "If Nothing Matches, Everything Matches". This philosophy suggests that a mix of bold, personal pieces creates a much more interesting, lively, and "lived-in" aesthetic.

3. How to Approach Art Placement

Follow Your Gut: Choose art because you love it, it moves you, or it makes you feel happy. You will always find a place for a piece you truly adore. Think in Tone and Mood: Instead of matching colors, try to match the mood of the art to the purpose of the room. A peaceful bedroom might take a calming, soft piece, regardless of the paint color. Balance over Sameness: Art can bring light, warmth, or drama to a room where the furniture is solid, neutral, or simply functional.

The Verdict:  Do not be a follower in the decorating world. Let your walls do the talking, rather than just acting as a supporting act for your sofa.
